Cream cheese monkey bread

I cannot think about this delicious monkey bread without also thinking about my good friend Laurie (who I occasionally call Larry). Larry and I have much in common. Every time I see her, which is not often, I am reminded how much I adore her. I love that girl. Oh how I wish I could talk her into moving to Minnesota!
Larry and I both believe that cream cheese makes everything better, and that is why this bread makes me think of her. It's true. Cream cheese does make everything better.

I had been thinking about doing a twist on good ol' gooey and delicious monkey bread. But what could possibly make monkey bread any better than it is? Then it occurred to me. CREAM CHEESE! It makes everything better, right? A few months after I had that thought, I saw in a magazine that someone had my same idea. I figured I had better hurry up and make it myself, so here we go!
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 12-cup bundt pan with cooking spray and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine:
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Set aside.
Cut 20 cubes into an 8-ounce block of cream cheese.
Slice 10 discs of dough from each of two 12-ounce tubes of refrigerated flaky buttermilk biscuits. You will have 20 total dough discs. Set the discs on a flat surface and place one cube of cream cheese into the center of each piece of dough.

Wrap the edges of the dough up and around each cube of cream cheese.

Melt 3/4 cup of butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Set aside.
Place 10 of the dough-wrapped cream cheese cubes, cheese-side-up, into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Top with half of the sugar-cinnamon mixture and half of the melted butter.

Top with the remaining dough-wrapped cream cheese cubes, cheese-side-down, and the remaining sugar mixture and butter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Invert onto a serving platter and serve warm! Cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.

I'll be honest. I ate AT LEAST half of this thing by myself. I felt like a drug addict, eating just a few more bites, in a corner of our kitchen where nobody could see me.
Cream cheese does make everything better, ooey gooey monkey bread not excluded. YUM.

Just made this recipe - my house smells amazing. I served it to my husband and his brother - both picked the cube of cream cheese out. (yes it was still a big cube). I am going to try to make the regular Monkey Bread, I think it will be a hit!
Yummy! Made these and certainly will keep the recipe handy as they will be served often at my table.
Wow! and Yum! Time to get a bundt pan (or angel food cake pan for that matter). This looks delicious and I totally agree with the goodness of cream cheese.
Made this for my family this morning, it was a HIT!!! thank you so much for this welcome twist on monkey bread... I find it much more satisfying with the addition of the cream cheese... :-)
My mother and I used to make something like this in the fall, but we mixed warm maple syrup into the melted butter and poured that into the pan before adding all the biscuit bits. Talk about deliciously gooey...it was heavenly to wake up knowing that was waiting downstairs!
I am going to the store tomorrow had to make sure I get all the ingredients. This looks soooo good. Can't wait to try it! Thank you!!!
:::giggle::: I'm laughing at the "eating it in the corner of the kitchen" visual.....Oh how I have done that! LOL I LOVE monkey bread and cannot imagine how good it must be with cream cheese too! :::Swoon:::
We think you should be our friend. What a fun and delicious treat!
I can't wait to make this! It looks incredible. And you're right ... everything is better with cream cheese.
:) Just bought cream cheese, I"ve been wanting to try this. I'll tell yall how it turns out!
I just finished eating some of my monkey bread. I dunno if I like this recipe. It tastes good the first few bites, then it feels heavy, then i started feeling sick. Not to mention guilty :(
Maybe if it were lighter, without the cream cheese and less sugar. That would hit the spot!
Can you prepare it the night before, than cook it in the morning? I would like to make this for work!
I tried this in an angel food cake pan, and because the pan is two pieces, the butter leaked out in my oven. Other than that, and the fact this I mistakenly bought the smaller tube of biscuits, it was very delicious! The sugar to biscuit ratio was a little off, but I'm not a biscuit fan, so that was fine with me. Fun, special, Saturday breakfast!
My granddaughter and I had so much fun making this! Thank you so much for sharing. Monkeying Around
Found this on pintrest but when I clicked on it it was for pumpkin cream cheese monkey bread. Still looks amazing and I cant wait to try it. But was really excited for a pumpkin cream cheese bread for fall.
NO MAPLE SYRUP????????
LOved this recipe. I have not made the cream cheese monkey bread There will be no leftovers. I am sure of that. Thanks for the recipe. I am going to make this tonight. I am sure it will be amazingly good.Love cream cheese.

I tried this twice, and it never worked. Absolutely would not cook through in the middle. The outside was black, and the inside raw. Tried a lower oven temp the second time, for longer, and that didn't work either.
Oh,my! Be still my beating heart!!! Must try this.
No pumpkin?! Ahhh maaan! Will still be making this recipe, even though I'm disappointed about there being no pumpkin in the it!!! Lol
Hi, This looks like an amazing recipe but I'm confused, on Pinterest, the pic is labeled "pumpkin cream cheese monkey bread" but I don't see anything about pumpkin here. Am I missing something? Thank you!
Hi Candie, People can write anything they want on Pinterest. I hope you enjoy the recipe..

The caption says "Pumpkin" Cream Cheese Monkey Bread - yet there's no pumpkin in the recipe. I read the other comments, and nobody seems to care that there's no pumpkin listed - - - - am I missing something here?
Hey guys...referrig to the "missing" pumpkin........why not try mixing pumpkin in with the cream cheese?? not enough to make mush, but maybe a dollop of pumkin on top of each cheese cube and following the rest of the assembly instructions...or maybe adding some pumpkin with brown sugar and butter and place in bottom (top) of bundt pan?? plmk if any one tries these suggestions...enjoy, kathy
